Loving, Living and Dying is a new impact project within Amanda O’Shea’s broader celebrant and coaching work in Barcelona. Its core purpose is to help international residents prepare for death-related practicalities, community grief, and legacy while they are still healthy and active. The methodology combines death-system education, resilience coaching, ceremony design, emergency planning, and reflective legacy work. The project is especially relevant in Barcelona because many expats and digital nomads build strong local lives while their legal families, next of kin, and long-term communities remain abroad. Its strongest differentiation is the combination of practical preparation and heart-led ceremony work, addressing both logistics and meaning. The long-term value of the project lies in creating a more informed, prepared, and compassionate international community around one of life’s least discussed transitions.

Do you, or is there anybody that you know, that feels uncomfortable talking about Death & Dying? 

That opening line seems to make people really curious or they run for the hills. I’m actually here to talk about loving, living & dying - that seems to soften it a little, right.

I see that uncomfortable conversations are at the seat of communication problems in families and life. Mix that with the grief of somebody near death and the shock of dying, especially if it is an unexpected death, and more so of an immigrant, Expat or Digital Nomad, with an innocent lack of knowledge and experience of what to do in such situations, and with the reality that your next of kin, may not live in the same country as you do. It can get complicated. 

Living in a country like Spain, where things move quickly at the end of life, often burials and cremations are within 24- 48 hours. Sometimes 72 hours depending on the time and cause of death it can be messy, and dealing with the unknown can be tough for many people.

I have officiated funerals with up to 7 days so it is possible, but you may be charged per day (about 200€ a day) for each day after 48 hours if it is your choice to apply for an extension and not the circumstances. 

I’m Amanda O’Shea, and in my experience as Your Loving Life Celebrant, I create and officiate all celebrations of love and life, from the cradle to the grave, and I see family dynamics in action in all ceremonies, Baby Namings, Weddings, Vow Renewals and Funerals.
